The brave children
Once a widow lived in a village with her grandchildren. The village was very close to a forest named Champakvan. The villagers always went to the forest to pluck fruits and vegetables. But, there was one problem which always troubled the villagers. In the forest, lived a devil named Champakasura. Anyone who passed by that way, he saw them and he stole their belongings. In that village, lived four siblings whose names were Dhruv, Veer, Diya and Kiara. Dhruv was very intelligent. Veer was very brave. Diya was very kind. Kiara was very wise. They were good siblings. They were that widow's grandchildren.
Now the news that Champakasura was living in the forest has spread all over the village. They were scared to go to the forest. One day, the four siblings decided to go to the forest to find the secret of the devil. When they were going, Champakasura saw them. He knew that they had come for him. So he disguised himself in the form of a small girl and stopped them. He said,"Friends, why are you here? There is a devil called Champakasura. It will kill you all and steal your belongings. I know where he lives. He lives in a cave where there is no grass and only a small dog named Curu. Don't go there." But Veer shook his head and they went. When they went , Champakasura returned to his original form and smiled revealing his sharp teeth. He knew that his plan worked. Then he returned to his cave.
Meanwhile, the four siblings went and went until they saw a small dog and a cave where there is no grass. Diya was about to open the door, but Kiara warned her,"Diya, I think we should not open the door. Something is fishy. I suspect that the little girl who met us is Champakasura itself in disguise. Think about it, someone who knew the whereabouts of a devil is still alive." Dhruv agreed with her and told Diya not to open the door. She too agreed. But Veer said,"Kiara, I am too agreeing with you. But we are here to find the secret of the devil. We should open the door and stick together." So the four siblings went into the cave. Suddenly, they heard a voice. It said,"I am the devil Champakasura. Why did you come here? Now you can't go to your village." And then the door closed and Champakasura appeared. He wore a black cloak.
He said," Those who will answer my questions can go.The first question is bowl on the bowl, son is white than father." Dhruv answered " I know this answer. It's coconut." Then Champakasura asked," The second question is Bowl on the bowl, both father and son are white?" Immediately Veer said,"Rasgulla or syrup filled roll." The devil said," Correct answer. The third question is Bowl on the bowl, father brown than son". Diya answered Gulab Jamun. The devil said,"The fourth question is "He lies between two mats. His degree is ICS. Who is he?" Kiara said," I know the answer. It's Mathematics." Champakasura said," Yes, you had answered all the questions correctly. "
He transformed into a small boy, the dog transformed into a Pomeranian pup and the cave became a cottage and the grass less road transformed into an orchard. Champakasura said," My friends, I am freed." "What freed?" "Yes, freed. You freed me from the terrible curse. Actually, my name is Chandu. A witch gave me curse and said who will answer the four questions, he will free me from the curse." The four siblings understood what it meant. Chandu said," And one thing I forgot to say. If anyone breaks the curse, the witch dies instantly." "But why you stole the people's belongings?" "The witch told me to do this. You are my real friends. Thank you very much."
The four siblings waved goodbye to Chandu and went home. They announced to the villagers that they destroyed the devil and the villagers can go to the forest as usual. The villagers praised them. And the four siblings and the widow lived happily ever after.
